Getting Rid of Garden Ants

Garden Ant eradication can usually be achieved by locating and destroying the nest and therefore the queen. Sounds simple enough, if you know what you are doing! Probably better to call in an expert garden ant pest controller.

Most of us will admit to being party to pouring boiling water over an army of ants, only to find it might have worked for a short time, more ants returned. Garden Ants don't make it that easy for us and their nests can be difficult to locate and generally inaccessible.
Be mindful that garden ants are attracted to sweet foods, so look for ant trails and debris, if you are following it in the right direction, you might be able to trace it back to their nest.

An experienced garden ant or black ant eradication technician would conduct a comprehensive inspection of your home prior to any treatment in order that they can assess the level and extent of the ant infestation. Is it cheaper to keep buying lots of ant killer chemicals or call in a professional pest controller?

Using a shop bought insecticidal powder or similar ant killer at the entrance of the property can sometimes control small infestations but not provide total ant eradication. Professional ant pest controllers would use residual insecticides such as sprays and dusts or powders.

In domestic properties professional ant controllers are more likely to treat the kitchen and garden areas specifically where the ants are more likely to have originally entered the premises. This course of action would leave a protective barrier to prevent ants from re-entering the home.

Qualified ant removal (pest control) technicians will normally ask for feedback at a later date and then return to treat all areas again as well as any additional areas. Normally two visits are sufficient and once the treatment is complete they should provide an inspection report for you to keep.
